Blue Portal

Inspired by the Shah Mosque of Isfahan, this handbag translates the architecture’s monumental portal and flowing geometry into a contemporary sculptural form.

An independent object design by Hasti Ebrahimi.

THE NAME

Why
Blue Portal?

The name Blue Portal is inspired by the iconic blue-tiled entrance of Shah Mosque in Isfahan. “Portal” reflects the monumental architectural entrance that informed the bag’s silhouette, while “Blue” evokes the mosque’s distinctive blue and turquoise tiles. Together, the words capture the spirit of Isfahan in a contemporary design.

THE DESIGN STORY

A familiar language,
in a new object.

The design began with the monumental entrance of Shah Mosque in Isfahan. Its pointed arch, layered geometry and blue-turquoise tilework informed the bag’s structured silhouette. These architectural references are reinterpreted through ivory and deep navy surfaces, precise outlines and a sculptural gold detail.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

From reference
to object.

A visual study of the Shah Mosque’s architecture, tilework, early sketches and the evolution of the final handbag.

THE FINAL DESIGN

Geometry
to silhouette.

The bag’s faceted body translates the layered geometry of the mosque’s portal into a structured silhouette. Ivory surfaces and deep navy outlines create a dialogue between architectural clarity and refined elegance.

FORM & DETAIL

A portal
reimagined.

The central pointed form and intersecting lines echo the architectural rhythm of the entrance, while the contrast of ivory, navy and gold gives the design its distinctive identity.

THE SIGNATURE DETAIL

A sculptural
gold accent.

The clasp takes its elongated, tapering silhouette from the Iranian cypress, a longstanding symbol of resilience, endurance and timeless life in Persian art. Its flowing inner ornament reinterprets the cypress form as a contemporary gold detail, while the HE charm adds a personal signature.

Objects with
meaning.
